Vision Statement

"My goal is to help ensure every DDSB student has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I will advocate for strong STEM education, student wellbeing, student mental health and wellbeing, meaningful family engagement, building stronger connections between K–12 education and post-secondary opportunities, supporting evidence-based decision-making at the board level, responsible stewardship of resources, and pathways that prepare students for success in a rapidly changing world."

1. Advocate Student Well-Being & Accommodations

  • Champion mental health resources and mental health education programs. 

  • Encourage healthy school environments that foster belonging and resilience. 

  • Support anti-bullying and student safety initiatives. 

  • Advocate for timely and effective solutions to support students with learning disabilities.

 

3. Enhance Parent and Community Engagement

  • Improve communication between schools, families, and the board. 

  • Create more opportunities for meaningful input from parents and the community. 

  • Build partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and post-secondary institutions. 

 

4. Advocate Preparation of  Students for the Future

  • Advocate peace education via early intervention programs.

  • Support digital literacy and responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI. 

 

5. Promote Equity and Inclusion

  • Ensure all students have access to opportunities regardless of background or circumstance. 

  • Support inclusive learning environments where every student feels valued and respected. 

  • Monitor achievement gaps and advocate for strategies to address them. 

 

6. Responsible Financial Stewardship

  • Support evidence-based decision-making at the board level. 

  • Support  investments that directly benefit student learning and well-being. 

  • Seek efficiencies while maintaining high-quality educational programs.
